Two teams from Knurdz (University of Moratuwa) reached the finale at RoboRoarZ International in the tertiary league, competing on Smorphi, the reconfigurable robot platform developed at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).
Both Knurdz squads advanced through training, design, and competition rounds alongside institutions from multiple countries, including teams from Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, Malaysia, Oman, and beyond.
About the competition
RoboRoarZ is an international, design-centred reconfigurable robotics programme and competition that promotes STEAM education from primary through tertiary levels. Teams program and configure Smorphi robots to meet a yearly theme, with challenges that span autonomous physical missions, piloted tasks, and simulation rounds.
The tertiary league brings together polytechnic and university teams for multi-day events, briefings, robot training, development, qualifying rounds, and finals, with judging focused on strategy, completion time, and innovation in problem-solving. RoboRoarZ International editions draw hundreds of students from schools and higher-education institutions across the region, anchored by partners including SUTD, Wefaa Robotics, and the wider IEEE robotics community.
